2014 NLDS schedule: Dodgers open at home on Friday, Oct. 3

Jeff Gross

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers clinched the National League West with a win over the Giants on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium. Coupled with a loss by the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday, the Dodgers now know they will open the National League Division Series at home.

With the win, the Dodgers (91-68) are assured of finishing at least tied with the Cardinals (88-71), and Los Angeles holds the tiebreaker over St. Louis by winning four of their seven regular season matchups. The Dodgers will be at least the No. 2 seed, with an outside shot at the No. 1 seed. The Nationals (92-64) have a magic number of just two to clinch the No. 1 overall seed.

The NLDS will begin on Friday, Oct. 3 at Dodger Stadium, with the first two games at home. If the Dodgers somehow pass Washington for the No. 1 seed, they will host the NL Wild Card winner in the NLDS. Otherwise, the NL Central winner will play the Dodgers in the opening round.

Here is the schedule:

Game 1: Fri., Oct. 3 at Dodger Stadium
Game 2: Sat., Oct. 4 at Dodger Stadium
Game 3: Mon, Oct. 6 on road
Game 4: Tue., Oct. 7* on road
Game 5: Thu., Oct. 9* at Dodger Stadium
*if necessary

The NLDS will be televised by Fox Sports 1, with potentially two games (Games 2-3) on MLB Network.
