LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers and Angels went 38 years without making a trade with one another involving major league players, then made two deals together this offseason. So it's no surprise the two franchises are chummy enough to combine on yet another endeavor.
The two clubs have joined forces to create a billboard promoting the Freeway Series, featuring Clayton Kershaw and Mike Trout, who each won the MVP award in their respective leagues in 2014. The billboard features the heads of both players along with the statement, "Is your MVP red or blue," weirdly with no question mark.
Beginning today, fans of both teams can show support by using #MVPKersh or #MVPTrout hashtags on social media, which will be painstakingly tallied over the next six weeks.
The billboard is at the corner of Highland Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, just 8.4 miles from Dodger Stadium and 35.4 miles from Angel Stadium in Anaheim.
The Freeway Series takes place April 2-3 in Anaheim, followed by Saturday, April 4 at Dodger Stadium.
