There is no Matt Kemp, but that was to be expected through a quick perusal of his game logs. His last 10 days included three games followed by an off day, then two on followed by one off, followed by games the last two days, much like Dodgers regulars have played, and how many teams line up their starters with some sense of regularity.
Juan Nicasio gets the "start" in what is essentially a bullpen game for the Dodgers, meaning only that he will be the first of at least six Dodgers pitchers to appear in the game. He will be followed in some fashion by Paco Rodriguez, J.P. Howell, Yimi Garcia, Joel Peralta, and Dustin McGowan.
Jason Lane starts on the mound for the Padres, but only because San Diego is keeping Ian Kennedy on the back fields in a minor league game rather than let the Dodgers get a free look at one of their main starters.
Carl Crawford will play on the minor league side today against Rangers Class-A players on the back fields at Camelback Ranch, in an effort to get more at-bats. He can bat every inning in a more controlled environment, and get seven to nine plate appearances against live competition rather than only three.
