LAKE ELSINORE -- The Lake Elsinore Storm (Padres) scored five runs in the first inning off John Richy and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes were unable to overcome that deficit in a 5-1 road loss on Saturday night.

Richey started his season with two excellent games but his last two starts, both against the Storm, have not been very good. Ritchy's first-inning adventure saw him give up four hits, two walks, a hit by pitch and a stolen base along with those five runs.

Ritchy only lasted three innings which equaled his start last Sunday, and allowed five hits and four walks along with those five runs. Michael Johnson and Dan Tillman picked up for Richy and they combined to throw five shutout innings.

The Quakes offense sputtered all night, leaving several runners in scoring position. Cody Bellinger doubled twice but neither produced a run.

An example of their frustration was seen in the eight inning. With a runner on first, Bellinger lined one the other way but left fielder Jeremy Baltz made a nice catch near the wall. The next two hitters got on to load the bases with one out, then Tyler Ogle took a couple of good hacks on full count pitches before hitting a sharp grounder to shortstop that was turned into a double play.

The Quakes will try to salvage a series split Sunday with Zack Bird on the mound.
