LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers open a three-game series against the Giants at Dodger Stadium, but won't have the red-hot Alex Guerrero in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener.
Guerrero is 11-for-22 (.500) on the season and is second on the team in both home runs (five) and RBI (13). He also has six hits in his last eight at-bats, with three home runs and a walk over the last week.
Guerrero has started just four times in 19 games this season, counting Monday. Though he is expected to start as early as Tuesday, perhaps in left field against the lefthanded Madison Bumgarner. Guerrero took Bumgarner deep last Wednesday in San Francisco.
Juan Uribe gets the call at third base, and is on an eight-game hitting streak of his own, though with just one hit in each of the eight games is hitting .286/.310/.429 during the streak. Uribe is 9-for-32 (.281) in his career against Tim Lincecum, with two home runs and three doubles.
Andre Ethier gets the call in right field again, his 10th start in the last 15 games. He's hitting .342/.435/.605 with two home runs, two doubles and a triple in 46 plate appearances. Ethier has played in 17 of 18 games so far this year. Last season it took Ethier 98 plate appearances and 28 games to reach five extra-base hits.
The Giants go with mostly the same lineup we saw in San Francisco last week, though on Monday night with Buster Posey at first base and Andrew Susac behind the plate. Posey this year has started 12 games at catcher and, counting Monday, seven games at first base.
