Yasiel Puig back in lineup for Dodgers vs. Angels

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Dodgers play their penultimate spring contest on Friday night, with Brandon McCarthy making his final exhibition tuneup before the regular season against the Angels in Anaheim. And they will do so with Yasiel Puig back in the lineup, one night after colliding with Howie Kendrick on a fly ball to short right field.

Puig left the game Thursday after getting hit in the face in the fifth inning, though the Dodgers said at the time the move was made as a precaution.

Puig was third on the team in games played (148) and plate appearances (640) in 2014.

Yasmani Gradal was the designated hitter on Thursday night, but is catching tonight, with Justin Turner serving as the DH against the Angels.

The four relief pitchers in major league camp who didn't pitch on Thursday night — David Aardsma, Yimi Garcia, David Huff and Juan Nicasio — will follow Brandon McCarthy on the mound on Friday.

Old friend Andrew Heaney starts for the Angels, and will be followed by Fernando Salas, Mike Morin and Joe Smith.

The Angels are using mostly the same lineup Friday that they did on Thursday, with the only change behind the plate, with old friend Drew Butera starting at catcher.
