LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers made official their opening day roster at Sunday's noon PT deadline, making three final moves to get down to the active roster limit of 25 players.
The club placed pitchers Kenley Jansen, Hyun-jin Ryu and Brandon League on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 27, the earliest a DL stint can be backdated.
Jansen had surgery to remove a bone growth in his left foot on Feb. 17. He is now out of his walking boot and expects to return to the Dodgers by the beginning of May.
Ryu has inflammation in his left shoulder but no structural damage per an MRI exam, the same injury that sidelined him twice for 23 days each in 2014. Ryu will miss more time during this stint on the shelf, having already been shut down for two weeks. He begins a throwing program Monday, with a hopeful return in late April. The Dodgers need a fifth starter once in their first 16 games.
League will likely be out the longest and is a candidate to eventually be oved to the 60-day disabled list should the team need to create space on the 40-man roster. League chose a path of rest ad rehabilitation for the inflammation in his right shoulder rather than surgery, and is expected to miss at least eight weeks.
The Dodgers' 40-man roster currently has 39 players.
That brings a total of five Dodgers on the disabled list to open the season, as Brandon Beachy and Chris Withrow — both recovering from Tommy John surgery — were already placed on the 60-day DL during spring training.
