Rancho Cucamonga 2015 preliminary roster highlighted by Jose De Leon, Cody Bellinger

Jose De Leon

LOS ANGELES -- The Class-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes announced their preliminary 2015 roster on Tuesday, with pitchers Jose De Leon and first baseman Cody Bellinger highlighting the Dodgers' California League affiliate.

The Quakes open their season on Thursday night in Bakersfield.

De Leon, 22, was 7-0 with a 2.22 ERA in 14 games, including 12 starts, across two levels in 2013, including dominating in his four starts at low Class-A Great Lakes. With the Loons, De Leon struck out 42 in 22⅔ innings with only two walks, and put up a 1.19 ERA.

De Leon is expected to start on opening day Thursday for the Quakes, per Ron Cervenka of Think Blue LA.

The inclusion of Bellinger is an aggressive promotion for the 19-year-old, skipping Great Lakes. The Dodgers' fourth-round pick in 2013, Bellinger hit .328/.368/.503 with 22 extra-base hits in 46 games with rookie-level Ogden, though he did miss a month with a separated shoulder.

Right-handed pitcher John Richy, drafted by the Dodgers in the third round last year, is one of three 2014 draft picks on the Quakes preliminary roster, along with pitcher A.J. Vanegas (11th rd) and outfielder Devan Ahart (16th rd).

Vanegas was ranked the Dodgers' No. 19 prospect by our David Hood coming into the 2015 season, while Zachary Bird was ranked 13th and Bellinger 15th.

Bill Haselman will manage Rancho Cucamonga after guiding the low Class-A Great Lakes Loons in 2014. He will be joined by hitting coach Mike Eylward, pitching coach Bill Simas and fourth coach Rafael Ozuna.

Rancho Cucamonga will have to make three roster moves to finalize its roster before Thursday night's opener, but for now here is the preliminary 2015 Quakes roster:
