LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday night when the team is in Salt Lake City.

Grandal, on the seven-day disabled list with a mild concussion, is expected to play three games with the OKC Dodgers in Salt Lake City, with night games Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by a Thursday matinee before joining the Dodgers in St. Louis on Friday.

He was doing catching drills at Dodger Stadium before Monday's game with team trainers, and said he passed all the tests from the medical staff.

Grandal is expected to be activated from the DL on Saturday, his first day eligible to return.

With Oklahoma City, Grandal is expected to be the designated hitter all three games. He likely won't catch again until rejoining the Dodgers.

"The longer that he can go without any kind of jolt, the better chances he has of [a concussion] not recurring as easily," manager Don Mattingly said.
