Brett Anderson struck out seven in yet another strong performance, and Kiké Hernandez tied a career high with three hits in the Dodgers' 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday night at Chase Field in Phoenix.
The Dodgers finished off their road trip on a high note with two straight wins, and were 6-4 on the trip, including six wins in their last eight games.
Anderson allowed seven hits but was helped out by one double play and also picked off a runner, his MLB-leading sixth on the season. Anderson kept the ball on the grass, with nine ground ball outs and zero fly ball outs. He didn't allow a run until Aaron Hill hit a solo home run with one out in the sixth inning.
Anderson also struck out seven batters, one start after fanning a season-high 10 in Miami. Anderson's 17 strikeouts in his last two starts are one shy of his previous five starts combined.
With the win, Anderson has won three straight starts for the first time since winning four straight with Oakland from Aug. 21 to Sept. 8, 2012.
Hernandez got the spot start in center field and provided an offensive spark at the top of the order. He tripled to open the game, and doubled home A.J. Ellis in the third inning, then scored on a single by Howie Kendrick.
It was the fourth start of the season in center field for Hernandez, who has also started eight game at shortstop, six games at second base, three times in left field and once in right. Hernandez finished his night 3-for-5, a home run shy of he cycle. The three hits tied a career high for Hernandez, otherwise accomplished twice in July 2014.
Not a bad way to celebrate the one-year anniversary of his major league debut.
Kendrick, who also drove home Hernandez with a sacrifice fly in the first inning, had a streak of four straight plate appearances driving in a run dating back to Tuesday night. He also scored in the third inning when Justin Turner joined the doubles parade to give the Dodgers a 4-0 lead at the time.
Kenley Jansen allowed a run for a second straight night, a one-out home run by David Peralta in the ninth inning to pull Arizona to within 4-3. But Jansen rebounded to strike out Danny Dorn and got Nick Ahmed to fly out to close out the victory.
