Quakes lose 5-0 to Giants; Willie Calhoun gets two more hits

RANCHO CUCAMONGA -- The Quakes were unable to touch Martin Agosta as the Giants defeated the Quakes 5-0. Agosta pitched seven innings and scattered seven hits and struck out nine. Ray Black and finished up the game.

Rob Rogers made his first professional start. Rogers had previously made 45 appearances out of the bullpen. Rogers was not helped by his defense as two of the four runs scored against him were unearned. Rogers pitched three innings and also gave up five hits and struck out two.

David Reid-Foley gave up a run in his two innings of work. Michael Johnson, Kyle Hooper and Josh Sborz each had scoreless appearances.

The Giants began their scoring in the second when Ryder Jones doubled to left. Brian Ragira singled home Jones and then Ragira took second on the throw. Ragira would later score on a Ty Ross single.

In the third inning, the Giants scored two unearned runs. Daniel Carbonell got aboard on a throwing error by third baseman Dillon Moyer. With two out, Ragira tripled in Carbonell and then Ragira scored when Tyler Horan reached on a error by first baseman Cody Bellinger.

The Giants scored their fifth run in the fourth inning, Jeff Kobernus singled and then stole second. When Kobernus later stole third, a bad throw by catcher Paul Hoenecke allowed Kobernus to score.

The Quakes were unable to plate a run, Nate Samson and Willie Calhoun each had two hits.
