Scott Barlow struck out a career-high 11 batters as the Quakes defeated the Giants 4-3 on Friday, giving Rancho Cucamonga a 2-0 lead over San Jose in their best-of-five California League Finals.

Barlow gave up just four hits and one run over seven innings of work, posting his best game of the season. Michael Johnson struck out the side in the eighth to put the win within reach, and while Josh Sborz permitted a pair of runs in the ninth, he managed to finished off the victory.

At the dish it was Alex Verdugo who drove in half of the Rancho runs, with two of them scoring on a RBI single in the seventh. While Rancho failed to record an extra base hit in this game, it should be noted that both Tim Locastro and Jacob Scavuzzo each had a pair of base knocks that resulted in a run batted in.
