Dodgers Week 26: Limping to the finish

LA dropped 5 of final 6 regular season games

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

After a glorious send off at home, the Dodgers completely fizzled on the road in their final week of the regular season. They dropped two of three games to the Padres, the got swept by the wild card Giants over the weekend.

It was the Dodgers’ first full losing week since going 2-4 from June 6-12 against the Rockies and Giants. LA also had a short 1-2 week(end) after the All-Star break from July 15-17 with just one series in Arizona.

Batter of the week

Adrian Gonzalez was 4-for-10 with a home run and a double in the final week of the season, all while battling a sinus infection. He beats out Chase Utley, who had two home runs and a double during the week.

Pitcher of the week

Julio Urias made his final postseason tune up with three scoreless innings and five strikeouts on Thursday in San Diego, and is a leading candidate for the NLDS roster, possibly to start Game 4. Alex Wood has taken to his relief role since coming back from the DL, with three scoreless innings of his own with four strikeouts last week.

Miscellany

Outfielders on the mend: Both Andrew Toles and Joc Pederson ended their season dealing with minor injuries, but both are expected to be fully ready for the NLDS. Ken Gurnick of MLB.com has more:

In the outfield, Joc Pederson provided a scare when he landed hard on his right shoulder trying to make a diving catch. It's the same shoulder he separated in Milwaukee this year. Meanwhile, Andrew Toles was held out of the last two games because of a sore left wrist he hurt a week ago making a catch.

Both players said they expected to be ready by Friday. Pederson said he had immediate pain, but it went away. Toles said he will probably not swing a bat for a few more days, but insisted he'll be ready Friday.
