Dodgers announce 2017 spring training schedule

Opener is Feb. 25 at Camelback Ranch

LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers will open their 2017 spring training schedule on Saturday, Feb. 25 against the White Sox at Camelback Ranch, part of a 38-game exhibition schedule announced on Wednesday.

The spring opener is one of four games between the two Camelback Ranch co-tenants, and is considered a Dodgers home game. Of the 35 spring games scheduled for Arizona, 19 are at Camelback Ranch, including 18 home games.

Reporting dates for pitchers and catchers, and for position players, haven’t yet been announced.

One of the 35 games for the Dodgers in Arizona is Sunday, Mar. 19 against a team from the Tokyo bracket of the World Baseball Classic — one of Japan, Cuba, China or Australia.

There are four split-squad days — Friday, Mar. 3 vs. Royals and at Diamondbacks; Sunday, Mar. 12 at Royals and vs. White Sox; Friday, Mar. 17 at Padres and vs. Mariners; and Tuesday, Mar. 28 vs. Padres and at at Reds.

Camp breaks in Arizona on Wednesday, Mar. 29, followed by three Freeway Series games against the Angels back in California. The first two games are in Anaheim on Thursday and Friday, Mar. 30-31, followed by Saturday, Apr. 1 at Dodger Stadium.

Sunday, Apr. 2 is an off day before the Dodgers open their 2017 regular season schedule on Monday, Apr. 3 at home against the Padres.
