PHOENIX -- Dodgers pitcher Alex Wood was scratched from his scheduled start on Saturday night with left forearm soreness, the club announced on Saturday afternoon.

Carlos Frias will start in place of Wood, though will instead travel to Peoria to face the Mariners. Brandon Beachy, who was originally slated to start in Peoria, will instead start the Dodgers' split squad game against the Cubs at Camelback Ranch.

Wood, thought to have an inside track at one of the two rotation spots vacated by the injured Hyun-jin Ryu and Brett Anderson, allowed five runs and two home runs on Monday against the Indians in his first Cactus League start of the season.
