PHOENIX -- The two best teams in the National League West meet on Sunday in Scottsdale, with the Dodgers on the road to face the Giants in Cactus League play.
Chase Utley, whose two-game suspension for his NLDS slide was reportedly overturned, starts at third base and bats cleanup on Sunday, the fourth different player to start in four games at third base for the Dodgers. Starting third baseman Justin Turner, held out of the first week of games as a precaution, got six at-bats on Saturday on the minor league side at Camelback Ranch.
Zach Lee gets the start for the Dodgers, putting his hat into the ring in the competition for the rotation spot vacated by Brett Anderson missing three to five months with back surgery.
Lee will be followed on the mound by Ross Stripling, Chase De Jong, Adam Liberatore and Matt West.
Jeff Samardzija, who signed a five-year, $90 million contract with San Francisco this winter, makes his second start of the Cactus League for the Giants.
Austin Barnes is the only position player on the 40-man not starting to make the trip to Scottsdale, so expect him to see some action on Sunday. Barnes, who has played all three games so far including catching twice, is 1-for-2 with four walks so far this spring.
Five Dodgers are in uniform for the trip from the minor league side include pitchers Felipe Gonzalez (No. 84) and Logan Bawcom (88), and three different players wearing No. 69 — left-handed pitcher Grant Dayton, right-handed pitcher Jeremy Kehrt and infielder Brandon Trinkwon.
Sunday's game is available both on SportsNet LA and on radio.
