Philip Pfeifer picks up relief win, Quakes beat Storm 4-2

The Quakes were the only winner for the Dodger affiliates on Tuesday.

Player of the day

Philip Pfeifer, the Dodgers 3rd Round pick in 2015, had his longing outing of the season in his fourth appearance for the Quakes.  Pfeifer pitched three innings, allowed no runs and struck out three.  Pfeifer got the win when the Quakes scored two runs in the tenth inning.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

The 51s (Mets) defeated the Dodgers 8-5 to take three of the four games.  Mike Bolsinger had been scheduled to start but he spend Tuesday traveling to Los Angeles in preparation for his start against the Angels on Wednesday.

The Dodgers used seven pitchers, starting with Logan Bawcom, who pitched three innings and allowed two runs.  Six other relievers pitched for the Dodgers, Casey Fein, Joe Thatcher and Chin-hui Tsao allowed no runs in their innings.

James Ramsey was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI.

Double-A Tulsa

The Cardinals scored four runs in the fifth inning and that was enough to beat the Drillers 5-3.  Carlos Frias started and pitched four scoreless innings, striking out two.  Ralston Cash was the losing pitcher, he allowed the four runs in the fifth.

Alex Verdugo was 3-for-4 with a double.  Andrew Toles had a triple.

Class-A Rancho Cucamonga

The Quakes took an early lead and then they scored two in the tenth to beat the Storm (Padres) 4-2.  Josh Sborz pitched six innings and allowed two runs.  Philip Pfeifer won the game and had pitched three scoreless innings.  Karch Kowalczyk picked up the save.

Pin-Chieh Chen had two hits, Johan Mieses had a hit and drove in a run.

Class-A Great Lakes

The Cubs took a close one as they beat the Loons 2-1.  Victor Gonzalez struck out nine in five innings but he took the loss as he gave up two runs.  Brian Bass and Kevin Brown each threw a pair of scoreless innings.

Logan Landon had two hits, Matt Jones walked twice and scored the only run for the Loons.


Double-A: IF/OF Alex Guerrero assigned to Tulsa from Rancho Cucamonga.

Class-A: Third baseman Jimy Perez assigned to Extended Spring Training from Great Lakes.
