The Dodgers have a chance to sweep the Nationals, finishing off their homestand on Wednesday night with Julio Urias on the mound at Dodger Stadium.
This is the fifth sweeportunity the Dodgers have had this season. So far the club is 3-1 with a chance to finish off the sweep, beating the Padres on the road and the Reds and Braves at home, while losing the series finale against the Cardinals at home.
Dodger Stadium has proven to be a safe haven of late for the Dodgers, with 13 wins in their last 16 home games, outscoring opponents 70-39 during that span.
Julio Urias continues his early gauntlet, facing his third first-place team and fourth team in current playoff position in just his sixth major league start. Urias has shown remarkable improvement from start to start, culminating in five scoreless innings last Friday against the Brewers, with eight strikeouts.
In his last three starts, Urias has allowed just three runs and three walks to go with 22 strikeouts in his 14⅓ innings. Two of those have been at home, in which Urias has allowed one run.
Against his first five opponents, Urias has faced the top three National League teams in pitches per plate appearance - Milwaukee (4.02), New York (3.97) and Chicago (3.95). The Nationals rank 12th in the NL at 3.81 pitches per PA.
