Ogden finally adds a tally to the win column while the Drillers continue their late game heroics against Springfield.

Player of the day

After a rough professional debut, the top 2015 draft pick currently playing for the Dodgers is off to a hot start in the Pioneer League.  Mitchell Hansen went three for five with his first professional home run in Ogden's victory over Grand Junction.    Hansen is hitting .381 with a hit  in each of his first five games with the team, as the five tool outfielder is looking to make a foothold in professional ball.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

The Dodgers rode strong pitching to a 4-1 victory over the Round Rock Express (Rangers).   Brandon McCarthy was solid in his rehab stint, going three and two thirds innings, allowing one run, and striking out four.  He threw forty-one of his sixty-one pitches for strikes.  Carlos Frias was dominant in relief, finishing the final five and a third innings with only three hits allowed, and a seven to one ground out air out ratio.

Chris Taylor went one for four with a double in his Dodgers debut.  Micah Johnson and Austin Barnes also double as part of one for four nights.

Double-A Tulsa

The Drillers needed extra innings and a Kyle Garlick walk off two run home run to defeat the Springfield Cardinals 8-6 in ten innings.  Andrew Toles was a perfect three for three and reached base five times, though he was caught stealing for just the third time in sixteen attempts at Tulsa.  Brandon Trinkwon added a triple and double in five plate appearances.

The bullpen picked up Scott Barlow in the fifth inning and proceeded to keep the team in the game, allowing two runs over the final six innings.  Caleb Dirks earned the win with a clean tenth inning, striking out two.

The Quakes were off Wednesday as part of their All-Star break, but will start the second half at home against the High Desert Mavericks(Rangers) Thursday.

Low Class-A Great Lakes

The Loons wrapped up their All-Star break on Wednesday, and resume their season Thursday at the Lake County Captains (Indians).

Short Season Ogden

The Raptors' offense powered Ogden to their first win of the season, defeating the Grand Junction Rockies 11-4.  Michael Medina homered twice in five at bats, providing four RBI, while Hansen chipped in with three.  Six Raptors had a multi-hit game, including leadoff hitter Erroll Robinson with his first professional hits.

Roberth Fernandez earned the win with seven strikeouts in five and a third innings, allowing four runs, Rob McDonell and Corey Copping combined for three one hit, seven strikeout innings to seal the victory.

Rookie AZL Dodgers

The Dodgers lost to the AZL Padres 9-4.  Leonardo Crawford struck out six in three and a third innings, allowing one earned run.  Melvyn Forbes tooks the loss with two runs allowed in one and a third inning.

Gavin Lux drew two walks, though he's still searching for his first professional hit.  Andres Ayon and Carlos Mosquera each added a pair of hits in a losing cause.
