Dodger affiliates had two rainouts and two losses on Thursday.
Player of the day
Quakes right-hander Josh Sborz continued his work as a starting pitcher. Sborz had made ten starts, averaged just over six innings per start and has pitched into or past the sixth inning in every start. Sborz has 56 strikeouts and 12 walks in 61⅔ innings.
Triple-A Oklahoma City
The game between the Dodgers and the Cubs was postponed due to rain. There has not been a makeup date scheduled as yet.
Double-A Tulsa
Rain was the cause of another postponed game, this time between The Drillers and the RoughRiders (Rangers). Since this was the last game between the two clubs during the first half, no makeup date will be made and the teams will finish the first half playing one less game than the other teams.
Class-A Rancho Cucamonga
The Storm (Padres) held on to beat the Quakes 2-1 on Thursday night at LoanMart Field. The Quakes scored once in the eighth and had the bases loaded with two out but Johan Mieses struck out to end their best look at the game.
Josh Sborz started and he pitched 5⅔ innings, allowing two runs (one earned), seven hits while striking out five. Philip Pfeifer and Daniel Corcino both had scoreless appearances to keep the game close.
Outside of the eighth inning, the Quakes did not have a good night at the plate, they went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. With just a few weeks left in the first half, the Quakes fell out of a first-place tie.
Class-A Great Lakes
The White Caps (Tigers) jumped to a four-run lead after two innings and went on to defeat the Loons by a 6-3 score. Loons starter Nolan Long gave up four of his five runs with two out. Long only pitched two innings and he allowed five runs, five hits, two walks and struck out three.
Right-hander Ivan Vieitez returned from the disabled list and he pitched three scoreless innings. Gavin Pittore followed with two scoreless innings and Adam Bray allowed a run in his two inning appearance.
Edwin Rios and Brendon Davis each had two hits. Matt Jones was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.
