LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers shortstop Corey Sager was named National League Rookie of the Month for June on Saturday, and was among players to receive votes for NL Player of the Month as well.
Seager hit .343/.409/.676 with eight home runs and eight doubles in June, playing in all 28 games during the month, including 26 starts. He led all major league rookies in batting average, hits (35), home runs, runs scored (20), total bases (69) and slugging percentage. He led NL rookies in on-base percentage and doubles, and ranked third in RBI (13).
Player of the Month honors in the NL went to Padres first baseman Wil Myers, who hit .327/.429/.765 with 11 home runs and 33 RBI in June. Seager was among others to receive votes, along with Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant of the Cubs, Matt Carpenter of the Cardinals and Carlos Gonzalez of the Rockies.
Seager is the first Dodger to win rookie of the month honors since Alex Guerrero in April 2015.
