LOS ANGELES -- To make room on the roster for pitcher Julio Urias, who starts Thursday's series finale against the Nationals, the Dodgers optioned Charlie Culberson to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Culberson was recalled on Wednesday, and started at shortstop in place of Corey Seager, who missed his second straight game.
Culberson was 1-for-3 with an RBI single, driving in the Dodgers' only run on Wednesday, and on the season the infielder is 8-for-30 (.267) with two doubles and a walk, with five RBI in 16 games, including six starts at shortstop and two starts at third base.
In 46 games with Oklahoma City this season, Culberson is hitting .289/.333/.406 with 13 doubles and two home runs.
Coupled with the Dodgers' other roster moves on Thursday — calling up Grant Dayton and sending Zach Walters down — the Dodgers are back to a four-man bench and 13 pitchers, at least for the series finale against Washington.
