Chase De Jong pitches complete game win as Tulsa splits doubleheader

Oklahoma City, Rancho Cucamonga and Great Lakes won, Tulsa split their doubleheader.  As for the Dodger Rookie affiliates, Ogden won, AZL Dodgers swept their doubleheader and the Dominican teams split their games.

Player of the day

Chase De Jong pitched a seven-inning complete game and picked up his tenth win.  The ten wins lead the Texas League.  It was his second straight seven-inning start.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

The Dodgers beat the Zephyrs (Marlins) 8-5 to take the first game of their series.  Ralston Cash pitched 1⅓ innings to get the win.

The Dodgers had a bullpen game as scheduled starter Ross Stripling was withheld.  Seth Frankoff started and pitched three innings.  Mike Bolsinger followed with two innings and Layne Somsen got two outs before Cash entered game.

Sam LeCure got his first save of the season.

The Dodgers scored a total of six runs in the first four innings.  Drew Maggi had three hits.  Corey Brown and Brandon Hicks each had two hits.

Double-A Tulsa

The Drillers split a doubleheader on Friday beating the Travelers (Angels) 9-1 in the first game and then dropping the second game 4-2.  Chase De Jong pitched a complete game to earn his tenth win of the season.

In the second game, the Drillers had a bullpen game with Jordan Schafer pitching three innings  and giving up two runs.  The Drillers would tie the game in the sixth on a Cody Bellinger two-run home run.  However, the Travelers would score two runs in the sixth and that was enough for the win.

In the first game, aside for De Jong's fine start, the Drillers had 16 hits.  Kyle Garlick and Willie Calhoun each had three hits.  Tim Locastro, Jacob Scavuzzo, Vinny DiFazio and Jordan Tarsovich all had two hits apiece.  Willie Calhoun hit his 21st home run of the season.

Class-A Rancho Cucamonga

The Quakes scored a run in the ninth inning and beat the Storm (Padres) 3-2.  Andrew Sopko pitched the final six innings to get the win.  Sopko gave up a run, five hits and struck out nine.  Yimi Garcia made his second rehab appearance and he gave up a run on a solo home run but also struck out four in two innings of work.

Garrett Kennedy doubled with two out and runners on first and second to score the go-ahead run.  Christian Santana hit two triples.

Class-A Great Lakes

The Loons defeated the Cougars (Diamondbacks) 4-1 and swept their three-game series.  Mitchell White made his second appearance and pitched two innings, giving up a run.  Micheal Boyle got the win by pitching six scoreless innings.

Erick Meza hit a two-run homer, Omar Estevez and Luke Raley also had two hits.

Rookie - Ogden

The Raptors defeated the Osprey (Diamondbacks) 12-3.  Again offense ruled the day for the Raptors, pounding out 14 hits.

Errol Robinson was 3-for-3 with two doubles, DJ Peters had two hits and three walks.  Moises Perez also had three hits.

Rookie - AZL Dodgers

The AZL Dodgers swept their two games with AZL Brewers on Friday, the first game was a one-run game going 4-3 to the Dodgers.  In the second game, the Dodgers scored 12 runs and won 12-5.

In that second game, the Dodgers had three home runs.  Michael Medina, Kyle Farmer and Jeffrey Souffront all homered in the game.

Enrique Hernandez made his first rehab appearance in the second game and went 0-for-4.  Romer Cuadrado was 3-for-4 with a two-run home run.

Dominican Summer League - Dodgers One & Dodgers Two

The Dodgers One dropped their game 9-0 to the Twins while the Dodgers Two beat the Athletics 5-2.

Triple-A: Los Angeles Dodgers recalled catcher/infielder Austin Barnes; Los Angeles Dodgers optioned left-handed pitcher Julio Urias; Oklahoma City placed catcher Josmar Cordero on the 7-day disabled list; Shawn Zarraga assigned to Oklahoma City from Tulsa.  Rookie: Los Angeles Dodgers sent utility player Enrique Hernandez on a rehab assignment to AZL Dodgers.
