Brett Anderson has a mild left wrist sprain

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

LOS ANGELES --- In his first 2016 start, left-hander Brett Anderson was removed after 30-pitch first inning.  It was announced later that Anderson was taken out with a mild left wrist sprain.

Anderson was victimized by the home run ball in the first inning.  Jody Mercer hit a two-run home run to start the scoring and Sean Rodriguez capped the scoring with a three-run home run.  Anderson would leave with a line of one inning pitched, five runs, five hits and one walk allowed.

In 112 career starts before today, Anderson had only one other start as short as this one.  On April 19, 2013, Anderson, then with the Athletics, pitched one inning against the Rays.  He gave up four runs, four hits and a walk.
