The Dodgers had an eventful week last week on the road. They played their first regular season three-game series ever against the Yankees in New York, and won two of three, including on Monday when several hundred fans from Pantone 294 took over the left field corner.
The Dodgers then split four games in Arizona, nearly hitting the jackpot after coming back from six runs on Sunday. They lost the final game of the week, but a 4-3 week on the road is nothing to sneeze at, especially when it comes with adding two games to the division lead.
Here is a summary of the last seven games.
Batter of the week
Howie Kendrick had a strong week at the plate, hitting .389 (7-for-18) while starting at three different positions — first base, third base and left field. He added second base to the repertoire on Sunday, though he didn’t start there; it was just one of three positions he played in the final game of the week. Kendrick had a pair of doubles on Sunday, including a two-run shot off the wall that briefly gave the Dodgers a 9-7 lead in a game they once trailed by six runs.
Pitcher of the week
Clayton Kershaw was Clayton Kershaw again on Wednesday in New York, only interrupted by rain. He allowed just a single, plus one batter who reached on an error, in his five innings, striking out five with no walks in his first start at Yankee Stadium.
