LOS ANGELES — After sleepwalking through most of September, the Dodgers ended their regular season on a high note, winning eight of their last 10 games, including 5-1 in the final week to complete their best regular season in 64 years.

They wrapped up home field advantage through the National League playoffs with a win on Wednesday, then clinched home field advantage should they reach the World Series as well.

The Dodgers’ 104 wins were their most since winning 105 in Brooklyn in 1953.

“If you look back at the great Dodgers teams and teams in baseball history, we’re in an elite group,” manager Dave Roberts said. “It’s something we should be proud of.”

Batter of the week

Yasiel Puig got his week off to a literal late start, but then was 5-for-12 (.417) with a pair of home runs and three walks. He tied a career high with four runs scored on Saturday night, and finished his season with a career-best 28 home runs.

Pitcher of the week

Rich Hill continued his September to remember with a stellar start on Wednesday against the Padres, striking out 10 in seven scoreless innings, and appears lined up for a possible start in Game 2 of the NLDS on Saturday.

Week 26 results

Record: 5-1
40 runs scored (6.67 per game)
20 runs allowed (3.33 per game)
.780 pythagorean record

Final results

Record: 104-58
770 runs scored (4.75 per game)
580 runs allowed (3.58 per game)
.627 pythagorean record (102-60)

Miscellany

The week started out with a mini-controversy, with Puig benched for one day for showing up late for a planned batting practice session on Monday.

Justin Turner was voted by teammates and coaches as the 2017 Roy Campanella Award winner, given annually to the most inspirational leader on the team.

One night after hitting a home run and a double, Adrian Gonzalez was shut down for the remainder of the season with back tightness.

Luis Avilan is expected to miss the NLDS with a sore shoulder.

The first two games of the NLDS at Dodger Stadium will be played at night.

Transactions

Friday: Utility man Tim Locastro was called up from Triple-A as a potential pinch runner for the playoff roster, and outfielder O`Koyea Dickson was placed on the 60-day disabled list with a subluxed left shoulder that will require surgery.

Game results

Monday: Dodgers 9, Padres 3

Tuesday: Dodgers 9, Padres 2

Wednesday: Dodgers 10, Padres 0

Friday: Rockies 9, Dodgers 1

Saturday: Dodgers 5, Rockies 3

Sunday: Dodgers 6, Rockies 3

The week ahead

The playoffs now await, with the Dodgers at home for the first two games of the NLDS, playing either the Diamondbacks or Rockies, which I suppose would make this the Quinton McCracken gauntlet. Those two teams face off Wednesday in the NL wild card game.
