LOS ANGELES — A pair of Dodgers were named on Monday to the Fall Stars Game in the Arizona Fall League, with Yusniel Diaz and Matt Beaty set to play in the annual showcase of several top minor league prospects.
The Fall Stars Game will be played on Saturday at 5 p.m. PT, and will be televised by MLB Network. The rosters are selected by scouting and farm directors from each team as well as AFL director Steve Cobb, with all 30 major league teams represented.
Diaz, who turned 21 in October, is hitting .297/.357/.405 with a home run, a double and four walks in the AFL. He was ranked the Dodgers’ No. 19 prospect at midseason by our David Hood.
Beaty was the Texas League MVP this season after hitting .326/.378/.505 with 31 doubles and 15 home runs for Double-A Tulsa. In 10 Arizona Fall League games, Beaty is 7-for-39 (.179) with two home runs, two doubles and one walk. He has played seven games at third base, two at first base and one at designated hitter.
Diaz and Beaty will play for the west roster in the Fall Stars Game, which will be played at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale. Paul Severino will call the game for MLB Network, alongside analysts Joe Magrane and Jonathan Mayo.
