PHOENIX — Justin Turner is not in the lineup for a third straight day on Wednesday against the Giants, though that is by design. After starting at third base on Saturday and at designated hitter on Sunday, Turner had an injection in his left knee, the same knee he had microfracture surgery after the 2015 season.
"It's kind of the same program he did last year, and he's sort of on the same program as Logan Forsythe,” manager Dave Roberts said. “It's a lubrication thing, just to get ahead of it, and give him a couple days off. He'll be back in there.”
Forsythe had a similar injection the week before spring games started.
Turner on Wednesday said he would play in three of the next four days.

"It's us trying to be proactive,” Roberts said. “Justin felt good last year with that process, and we're going to continue to do it.”
Ryu delayed
Hyun-jin Ryu was going to throw to hitters on Wednesday at Camelback Ranch, but instead threw a bullpen session as a precaution. The left-hander will now face hitters on Saturday instead.

One of those hitters on Saturday is expected to be Trayce Thompson, who is nearing game action and told Ken Gurnick of MLB.com on Tuesday that he is feeling 100%.
