PHOENIX — Spring training is almost through, with just three more days at Camelback Ranch before the Dodgers break camp in Arizona and head back home to California. Here is a look at the week ahead, with opening day a mere seven days away.
Among the things in store this week include cutting down from the 43 players currently in big league camp to the 25-man opening day roster, though some of those moves are basically already known (more on that later today).
The Dodgers have played 31 games to date this spring, and still have seven games remaining over the next six days. Shockingly, at least to me, there have been zero ties.
Once the Dodgers are back in California, all three games of the Freeway Series will be available on television throughout the Los Angeles market, even for those without SportsNet LA.
But before the club is California dreaming, there is one split squad day left, on the penultimate day of camp in Arizona. Alex Wood will start one of those games on Tuesday, against the Reds in Goodyear, while Julio Urias faces the Padres at Camelback Ranch.
There are no more games from Arizona on SportsNet LA, though Wednesday’s getaway day game against the Mariners will be on MLB Network, to see Clayton Kershaw making his final, shortened tuneup before opening day.
