Utley is 2-for-15 (133) with a triple and two walks against Cubs starter John Lackey in his career.

Adrian Gonzalez has the most plate appearances against Lackey among Dodgers. He is 8-for-25 (.320) with a double and a walk. But 15 of those plate appearances came in 2005 and 2006. In the last four seasons, Gonzalez is 2-for-11 (.182) against Lackey.

Leadoff man Andrew Toles is 1-for-1 with a walk against Lackey, with both plate appearances coming in Game 4 of the 2016 NLCS.

Only five Cubs on the active roster have faced Brandon McCarthy, with Ben Zobrist his most common foe. The switch-hitting Zobrist is 5-for-22 (.227) with a home run, a double and two walks against McCarthy, though they haven’t faced each other since 2014.

The versatile Zobrist starts at second base on Wednesday, after starting in right field on Monday.

Jason Heyward is 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk against McCarthy. Tommy La Stella is 2-for-3, Jon Jay is 1-for-3, and Anthony Rizzo is 0-for-1 with two walks against the right-hander.

Lackey bats eighth on Wednesday, with Jay in center field batting ninth. This is the third game this season a pitcher had batted eighth against the Dodgers; the Padres did it twice in the opening series.

UPDATE: Turner expects to return to the lineup soon.
