Justin Turner returns to Dodgers lineup vs. Diamondbacks

MLB: Colorado Rockies at Los Angeles Dodgers Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Justin Turner is back in the lineup for the Dodgers on Friday night against the Diamondbacks, three days after getting hit by a pitch on his left hand.

Turner was hit by a pitch from Kyle Freeland of the Rockies in the fifth inning on Tuesday, and remained in the game. Postgame X-rays were negative, but he sat out Wednesday’s game.

He bats third on Friday night in Arizona, his same spot in the batting order for every start this season. Turner is hitting .360/.448/.520 with a National-League-leading eight doubles.

Turner was 1-for-2 against Diamondbacks starter Taijuan Walker last Sunday at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers also switched things up a bit, with Joc Pederson batting leadoff for the first time this season. Andrew Toles shifts to seventh, with Chase Utley eighth.

Alex Wood starts for the Dodgers on Friday, his second start and fourth appearance of the season. So far, opposing batters are just 3-for-32 (.094) with six walks and eight strikeouts against Wood in 2017, including 0-for-14 with four walks and four strikeouts from left-handers.

In fact, Wood hasn’t allowed a hit to a left-hander since last September, with their 0-for-26 mark the longest active hitless streak in the majors, per STATS LLC.

The only two left-handers starting for the Diamondbacks on Friday are third baseman Jake Lamb and right fielder David Peralta.
