LOS ANGELES — The Great Lakes Loons will now have three home players as they host the 2017 Midwest League All-Star Game, with infielder Brendon Davis named on Monday as a replacement on the East All-Star squad.
Davis replaces South Bend Cubs third baseman Wladimir Galindo, who was placed on the disabled list.
The Dodgers drafted Davis out of nearby Lakewood High School in the fifth round in 2015, and in his second go-around with the Loons is hitting .256/.361/.429 with 13 doubles, six home runs, and two triples in 56 games.
Davis has played all over the infield in 2017, starting 20 games at shortstop, 19 games at third base, and 12 more at second base. He doesn’t turn 20 until July 28.
With Davis now on the squad, the Loons have three All-Stars, along with pitcher Dustin May and catcher Keibert Ruiz. The Midwest League All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, June 20 at Dow Diamond in Midland, Michigan.
