Scavuzzo homers three times for Tulsa

Jacob Scavuzzo hit three home runs in Tulsa’s win Wednesday.

The Dodgers’ farm had a light day, with a few teams still off for All Star breaks. Not on break though were the Tulsa bats, especially one particular outfielder.

Player of the day

It has been a rough year for Tulsa outfielder Jacob Scavuzzo, but Wednesday should be a major boost to his confidence. Scavuzzo homered three times in five at bats, driving in four runs. His homer barrage brought his season total to nine, and his slash line to .228/.273/.418 for the year. June hasn’t been especially kind to Scavuzzo, but there’s hope that he can rebound in the season’s second half.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City was off on Wednesday, and will return home Thursday to play the Nashville Sounds (Athletics). Fabian Castillo will square off against old friend Frankie Montas.

Double-A Tulsa

The Drillers rode Scavuzzo’s hot bat to a 10-4 victory over the Springfield Cardinals. Erick Mejia also chipped in with two hits in three at bats, with a double and two runs scored. Edwin Rios also drove in a pair of runs in five at bats.

Scott Barlow was impressive over five innings, allowing no runs while striking out ten. The Cardinals scored all four of their runs against reliever David Hale, who followed Barlow with two innings of work.

Class-A Rancho Cucamonga

The Quakes wrapped up their All Star Break on Wednesday, and will resume play Thursday in Lancaster (Rockies).

Class-A Great Lakes

The Midwest League was also off for their All Star Break. The second half will begin at home against the South Bend Cubs.

Rookie Ogden

The Raptors were clobbered for 20 hits and 16 runs Wednesday, losing 16-5 to the Orem Owls (Angels). Adalberto Pena took the loss despite just allowing one run in two and a third innings of work. Matt Ditman (five runs) and Conor Costello (four) were pounded the hardest in their relief efforts.

Cristian Santana was the offensive highlight, going three for four with a triple and home run. Romer Cuadrado and Hendrik Clementina also had multiple hit games, each going two for four.

Dominican League DSL Dodgers

The DSL Dodgers One defeated the DSL Athletics 3-2. Jose Hernandez earned his third win allowing just two runs in six innings, striking out four and walking none.

The DSL Dodgers Two lost to the DSL Rangers One 6-3. Christopher Arias homered and scored a pair of runs.
