There never seems to be enough of Vin Scully to quench the thirst of baseball fans who have been hanging on his every word for nearly seven decades. On Wednesday night, Scully was back in the spotlight to accept the Nationwide ICON Award at the ESPYs.
With just as much charm as ever, Scully walked to the mic and gave us all chills with his opening line, “Hi everybody, and a very pleasant good evening to you.”
There was also this tribute video played at the ceremony.
Bryan Cranston had the pleasure of presenting the award to the legend and even received an endorsement from Scully himself.
“He is such a wonderful human being; flew from New York just to get here for this award and now is flying back to New York.” said Scully. “I don't have a relative in the world who would make that kind of trip.”
Not to take anything away from Cranston, I’m sure we could all find that kind of time for the man who has given our favorite game a voice since most of us have been alive.
Here’s to you, Vin.
