Dodgers have 90 wins, and it’s not even September yet

One of three MLB teams to reach 90 wins by Aug. 25

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at Pittsburgh Pirates Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Dodgers have 90 wins, and we haven’t even reached September yet. That seems ridiculous to type, even after watching this team win an absurd amount of games over the last four months.

At 90-36, the Dodgers are one of just a dozen teams to reach 90 wins in 126 games since 1900, per STATS LLC, and the first since the 2001 Mariners, who were also 90-36 en route to a major league record-tying 116 wins.

The Dodgers are on pace to tie that record.

It is August 24, by the way, which puts the Dodgers in even more rare territory.

The Dodgers did reach 90 wins before September one other time. The 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers won their 90th game on Aug. 31.

Here are the 12 teams to win 90 times in their first 126 games. The first 11 combined for a cumulative .712 winning percentage on the season, a 115-win pace over a 162-game season.
