As for all MLB teams in 2017, the Dodgers will become the 20th team to use 10 or more starting pitchers. Last year, the Dodgers would end up using 15 starting pitchers, which was tied for second most in MLB and in 2015, the Dodgers used 16 starting pitchers, and that led the majors.

Stripling will be the seventh different starting pitcher the Dodgers have used in August.

Manager Dave Roberts said Friday that “we’re going to look for the guys in the bullpen to cover,” and that “it will essentially be a bullpen day.”

The Dodgers will have nine pitchers in the bullpen today, of those, left-hander Edward Paredes has not pitched in a game, major or minor league, since August 14. This week, Kenley Jansen, Josh Fields and Tony Watson have been used three times; Brandon Morrow and Pedro Baez have been used twice.

The Dodgers have used seven pitchers in a nine-inning game once this season, they have used six pitchers in a nine-inning game 13 times, including last Tuesday when Brock Stewart started.

Saturday has been a wonderful day in the park

The Dodgers have won 14 straight games on Saturdays, their last loss was on May 20 at Dodger Stadium against the Miami Marlins. Overall, the Dodgers are 18-3 on Saturdays.

The Dodgers will be attempting to win another series tonight, unbeaten in their last 22 series, winning 19. The last series they lost was against the Washington Nationals in early June.
