The Dodgers lost general manager Farhan Zaidi to the Giants, adding to the holes to fill this winter. Among them are some coaching positions on the staff of Dave Roberts, who is back for 2019 with a long-term deal still reportedly in the works, but not signed yet.
On the player side, pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu accepted the $17.9 million qualifying offer and catcher Yasmani Grandal did not. Also, Chase Utley was released to facilitate his retirement, leaving 39 players on the Dodgers 40-man roster.
We discuss that and more on this week’s podcast, plus the potential competitive balance tax implications especially given the Los Angeles Times report of the Dodgers telling potential investors that they plan to stay under the CBT threshold through 2022.
