Breyvic Valera spent his 2018 spring training with the St. Louis Cardinals, the team that originally signed him out of Venezuela in 2010. Valera made his Major League debut with the Cardinals on September 5, 2017.
Valera was traded to the Dodgers on April 1, 2018 for outfielder Johan Mieses. He was first recalled from the Dodgers on April 15th. He would take the OKC to Los Angeles shuttle four times. His fourth stint was the longest, he was recalled on May 29th and optioned on June 19th.
On July 18th, Valera was traded along with Yusniel Diaz, Rylan Bannon, Dean Kremer and Zach Pop to the Baltimore Orioles for Manny Machado.
