LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers on Thursday finalized their 25-man opening day active roster by placing a few players on the disabled list to start the season.
Justin Turner (broken wrist), Tom Koehler (right anterior capsule strain) and Yimi Garcia (recovering from Tommy John surgery) was placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to Monday.
Julio Urias was already on the 60-day disabled list as he recovers from left shoulder surgery last season.
There is still no timetable for either Turner nor Koehler, though rehab for both will be measured in weeks, at least. Both are with the Dodgers during this opening homestand and will relocate to Camelback Ranch to continue their rehab when the Dodgers head out on a road trip next week.
Garcia is much closer to a return, having pitched last on Saturday. His last major league game was April 22, 2016.
“Yimi is healthy but there is a progression, boxes that need to be checked, appreciating he hasn’t pitched in two years,” manager Dave Roberts said Saturday. “We’re trying to be mindful of that with him.”
The Dodgers’ active roster features six players on their first opening day roster.
