PHOENIX — We get a treat on Wednesday afternoon when the Dodgers play the Angels for the first time all spring, getting to see Clayton Kershaw potentially face off against two-way sensation Shohei Ohtani in Tempe.
Ohtani is the designated hitter for the Angels on Wednesday and batting seventh. He’s just 1-for-9 with three walks and three strikeouts in his four Cactus League games as a hitter so far, but the 23-year-old lefty hit .286/.358/.500 in five seasons in the Japanese Pacific League.

Ohtani the pitcher has been on the mound twice, including once in a B game this spring. The Dodgers face the Angels one other time this spring, on March 22 at Camelback Ranch, then see each other again during the Freeway Series on March 25-27 in Anaheim and Los Angeles.
Kershaw is making his third spring start having pitched three scoreless innings to date. He will likely go three innings this time out against the Halos.
Kiké Hernandez starts in center field for the Dodgers on Wednesday, his first start in the outfield this spring after seeing action at shortstop and second base so far in Cactus League play. Hernandez made 16 starts in center field in 2017, along with 16 starts at shortstop, 15 in right field, 12 in left field, eight at third base and two starts each at second base and first base.
Hernandez is 4-for-11 (.364) this spring with four walks, and all four of his hits were for extra bases, including two doubles.
There is no Dodgers television or radio for Wednesday’s game, but the Angels broadcast will be available on both Fox Sports West and 830 AM.
