This week is a special edition of the True Blue LA podcast, with not only a recap of the first 10 days or so of the season but also an interview with Jon Weisman about his latest Dodgers book.
Weisman wrote ‘Brothers in Arms: Koufax, Kershaw and the Dodgers’ Extraordinary Pitching Tradition,’ a comprehensive history of Dodgers pitching throughout their franchise history.
We talked about Weisman’s process in writing this book and how he got the idea to organize it how he did. Weisman talks about how Ralph Branca was much more than the pitcher who surrendered The Shot Heard Around the World, including a specific mention of Branca pitching a compete game in a 17-10 Brooklyn win and a 19-year-old Branca pitching a 12-inning complete game with seven walks and 11 strikeouts.
‘Brothers in Arms’ is available through Triumph Books and will be officially released on May 1.
Jon has been sharing excerpts of his book at Dodger Thoughts as well.
