Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp left Friday’s game against the Giants in the fourth inning after experiencing left quad tightness while running the bases, per Alanna Rizzo on SportsNet LA.
Kemp walked to open the fourth inning and scored from first base on a double by Yasmani Grandal. After scoring, Kemp looked frustrated while talking to trainers in the dugout, then went into the clubhouse as shown on the television broadcast.
Joc Pederson replaced Kemp in left field in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Kemp has had a resurgent start to his second turn with the Dodgers, hitting .308/.352/.554 with four home runs and four doubles in 22 games. He dropped over 40 pounds in the offseason and earlier this week was shown by Statcast data to have the largest improvement in sprint speed from 2017 to 2018.
