Player of the day
2017 third round pick catcher Connor Wong hit his second home run in two games and also singled in a run in Quakes three-run sixth inning.
Triple-A Oklahoma City
The Dodgers and Iowa Cubs did not play as the game was postponed on Thursday in anticipation of poor weather.
Double-A Tulsa
The Drillers clung to a one-run lead going to the bottom of the eighth but then the Frisco RoughRiders (Rangers) posted six runs to win 10-5. Right-handed pitcher Emmanuel De Leon gave up all six runs and also made one of the Drillers five errors in the game.
Trailing 3-2 going to the fifth inning, the Drillers took the lead on a Luke Raley sacrifice fly and a bases-loaded walk to Will Smith. Connor Joe hit an inside the park home run to give the Drillers their fifth run.
The Drillers had an inconsistent pitching and defensive game, starter Caleb Ferguson did not finish the first inning, Ferguson threw 31 pitches and was removed with two outs and a run in.
Michael Johnson restored some order with two scoreless innings but then the following three pitchers, Karch Kowalczyk, Dylan Baker and De Leon gave up runs.
Infielder Wes Darvill relieved De Leon and escaped the eighth inning without giving up any more runs.
Class-A Rancho Cucamonga
The Quakes broke a 1-1 tie and scored three runs in the sixth to beat the Visalia Rawhide (Diamondbacks) 4-1 and even up their season record at 1-1. Andrew Sopko pitched five innings and struck out seven to get his first win.
Connor Wong led off the scoring with a solo home run in the second. Going to the sixth tied at 1, Gavin Lux singled and stole second. After an Omar Estevez single, Jeren Kendall singled in Lux.
Later in the inning, Wong singled home Estevez and Kendall would then score the third run on a wild pitch.
Following Sopko, Andrew Istler and Nolan Long each pitched two scoreless innings, Long recorded his first save of the season.
Class-A Great Lakes
The Loons and Lansing Lugnuts (Blue Jays) game was postponed due to poor weather, this game will be made up tomorrow as part of a doubleheader at Lansing.
Transactions
Triple-A: Los Angeles sent right-handed pitcher Zach Neal outright to Oklahoma City.
Class-A: Rancho Cucamonga placed right-handed pitcher Chris Mathewson on the 7-day disabled list, left-handed pitcher Leo Crawford assigned to Rancho Cucamonga.
