Josh Fields activated off paternity list

LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers activated relief pitcher Josh Fields from the paternity leave list on Saturday before their rain-shortened weekend series against the Giants at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

Fields missed two games while with his wife Brittney for the birth of their first child. The right-hander has pitched three scoreless innings in his three appearances this season with four strikeouts, retiring nine of his 10 batters faced.

The team made room on the active roster for Fields on Thursday when pitcher Zach Neal was designated for assignment.

Through seven games so far this season the Dodgers bullpen has a 3.51 ERA though their 19.6% strikeout rate ranks just 25th in the majors. It has been a tale of two series with the LA relief corps, allowing one run in 11 innings against the Giants then giving up nine runs in 11 innings versus the Diamondbacks.
