The Dodgers welcome the Reds to town on Thursday as they get into the meat of their non-Diamondbacks schedule. The Reds have the worst record in the National League (10-27) and have struggled against Los Angeles recently.
Since the start of the 2015 season, the Dodgers have won 17 of the last 20 games between the two clubs and it gets worse at Dodger Stadium where the Reds have dropped 11 of the past 13.
In fact, the last time the Reds won a series against the Dodgers was back in September of 2013 when they swept a three-game series in Cincinnati.
Walker Buehler will make the fourth start of his young career when he takes the ball in the opener. The 23-year-old has been a bright spot in a rotation that has been decimated by injuries.
The Dodgers had only planned to use their top pitching prospect for a couple spot starts in April but will need him for the foreseeable future.
In his previous three outings, Buehler has allowed only two runs in 16 innings with 19 strikeouts against seven walks and was the catalyst for the combined no-hitter last week in Mexico.
The Reds will counter with right-hander Tyler Mahle, making just his 12th career start. Over his last four outings, the 23-year-old has allowed nine runs in 23 1⁄3 innings of work, striking out 28 and walking eight.
