LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers on Saturday activated lefty reliever Tony Cingrani off the disabled list before their scheduled split doubleheader against the Nationals.

Cingrani missed eight games with left shoulder inflammation. He has a 5.79 ERA but a 2.93 FIP in 18 relief appearances, but six of his nine runs allowed started on Apr. 27 when he experienced what manager Dave Roberts called a “dead arm” in San Francisco.

Before that outing against the Giants Cingrani had a 2.89 ERA, 17 strikeouts, no walks and a 50% strikeout rate. Since, he posted an 11.57 ERA with four walks and five strikeouts, and an 18.5% K rate.

To make room for Cingrani the Dodgers optioned southpaw Adam Liberatore to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Liberatore has a 3.38 ERA in 12 appearances this season with eight strikeouts and four walks in eight innings.

Cingrani (seventh) and Liberatore (ninth) pitched two of the final three innings of the Dodgers’ no-hitter against the Padres in Mexico on May 4.

With two games on the docket on Saturday — weather permitting — this won’t be the only Dodgers bullpen move of the day. The club is allowed a 26th man for the second game of the doubleheader, and per the many beat reporters on site Yimi Garcia is in the Dodgers’ clubhouse in Washington D.C.

There is also the matter of activating Erik Goeddel, who was claimed off waivers from Seattle on Friday. The Dodgers will need to make a corresponding roster move to add Goeddel.
