Ruiz extends hitting streak to 10 games

Only two games on Monday and both Oklahoma City and Tulsa lose by a single run.

Player of the day

Keibert Ruiz had two hits on Monday and that extended his hitting streak to 10 games. Ruiz has a hit in 14 of last 16 games and he is hitting .375/.419/.700 during the streak.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

In a game that was played in a very brisk two hours and eighteen minutes, the Dodgers were unable to do much offensively and they lost 2-1 to the Memphis Redbirds (Cardinals).

Both starting pitched like it was 1918, Manny Bañuelos started for the Dodgers and he went seven innings, giving up two runs and six hits. He also struck out eight. His opponent, Austin Gomber, pitched eight innings, gave up one and six hits. Gomber walked two and struck out nine.

Donovan Solano and Alex Verdugo each had two hits, Solano scored the Dodgers lone run.

Double-A Tulsa

The Drillers lost a three-run lead in the seventh inning and despite a late rally, the Drillers lost 7-6 to the Arkansas Travelers (Mariners). After falling behind 7-3, the Drillers scored two runs in the eighth when Keibert Ruiz hit a two-run homer.

Then in the ninth inning, with one out, Cael Brockmeyer, who had hit his first home run in the season earlier in the game, singled and then moved to second on a ground out.

Zach Reks scored Brockmeyer on a single but he was left stranded when DJ Peters struck out to end the game. Peters had also homered earlier in the game.

Logan Bawcom started for the Drillers and he pitched 5⅔ scoreless innings. Bawcom gave up two hits and two walks, he also struck out four. However Tyler Pill could not hold the lead as he gave up seven runs in the next two innings.

Class-A Rancho Cucamonga

The Quakes were off on Monday, they begin a three-game series against the Stockton Ports (Athletics) tonight at LoanMart Field.

Class-A Great Lakes

Monday’s game between the Loons and Bowling Green Hot Rods (Rays) was postponed due to rain. A double-header has been scheduled for today to make up for the rainout.
