The Dodgers and Padres get together for the third time this season and in their third different ballpark, but for the first time at Dodger Stadium, beginning Friday night at Dodger Stadium.
In their last 14 series in Los Angeles, the Dodgers have beaten the Padres in 13 of them, dating back to 2013, and LA is 32-13 in their last 45 home games against San Diego.
Ross Stripling starts the opener, coming off 16 strikeouts and no walks in his last two starts. He has a 1.65 ERA in May and hasn’t allowed an extra-base hit to any of his 64 batters faced this month.
Clayton Richard has won his last two starts and has been a workhorse of late, lasting at least 7⅓ innings in each of his last three starts, with 20 strikeouts and one walk during that span, lowering his ERA from 6.21 to 4.87. Friday is Richard’s 24th career starts against the Dodgers, his most against any team.
