LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers had a pleasant Saturday evening as they defeated the Giants 3-1 to take their fifth straight game. The five-game win streak is their longest of the season.
Just like Friday’s game, the Dodgers hit home runs and got solid pitching. And in this game, the same two players repeated their home run swings from Friday.
Alex Wood pitched into the sixth inning for the first time in June. While he did not strike out many, just two which equaled a season low, Wood gave up just a single run so this was step up from his last few starts.
After Wood, the Dodgers bullpen did the job again. Yimi Garcia, Scott Alexander, Josh Fields and Kenley Jansen combined to pitch 3⅓ scoreless innings to keep the Giants at bay and give the Dodgers the win.
The Dodgers scored first on what else, a home run. Matt Kemp hit his second solo home run in this series in the second inning. That lead lasted until the top of the fifth when Alen Hanson’s sacrifice fly drove in Mac Williamson to tie the game.
But then in the bottom of the fifth, with Austin Barnes on second and two out, Kiké Hernández drilled Madison Bumgarner’s first pitch over the wall for a two-run homer. It was the fourth career home run that Hernandez has hit off Bumgarner.
Kike Hernandez is hitting 2nd for the @Dodgers tonight and just homered off Madison Bumgarner.

The #Dodgers have had a HR by their No. 2 hitter in 7 straight games, the longest streak in MLB history.
It was the second straight game that Kemp and Hernández homered as the Dodgers continued their power surge in June as they now have 34 home runs this month.
