LOS ANGELES —— The Dodgers will try to end this series and this week with sweep of the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers have won 21 out of their last 27 games and they are five games over .500 for the first time this season.
Caleb Ferguson will making his third start for the Dodgers, the lefthander last pitched on Tuesday when he started against the Texas Rangers. He pitched four innings and gave up five hits and two runs. Ferguson struck out three and walked two.
Chris Stratton will start for the Giants, this will be his fourth start against the Dodgers this season. In the prior three starts, Stratton has pitched a total of 11⅔ innings and he has given up 15 hits and 12 runs (11 earned). Stratton has struck out 10 and walked eight in those prior games against the Dodgers.
June is streaky home run month for the Dodgers
The Dodgers have homered in all thirteen games in June, But that should not be a big surprise. The five LA Dodger teams that have longer streaks of home run hitting games were almost all in June. Four of those streaks are comprised in games in June while one other streak started on May 29th and continued to June 16th. Those streaks are as follows:
- 17 games - June 7th - 25th, 2017 and May 29th - June 16th 1960
- 15 games - June 7th - 22nd, 1977
- 14 games - June 10th - 24th, 2016 and June 10th - June 26th, 2001
The longest Dodger streak since 1908 was in 1953 when that all-time offensive powerhouse had at least one home run in 24 straight games. And that streak also began in June, June 18th to be precise and continued to July 10th.
